Hamptons Diet

The creator of “The Hamptons Diet,” Dr. Fred Pescatore, studied under Dr. Robert Atkins in the 1990s at his famed clinic. Pescatore learned many things about the Atkins diet and the reason why, he believes, it does not work for everyone. His diet, The Hamptons Diet, is a weight loss plan that claims to help people lose weight and keep it off using many of the Atkins principles with some key differences. The author claims that anyone can lose up to fourteen pounds in two weeks, but this should not be considered a crash diet. Instead, his recommendations are geared toward dieters attaining a healthy lifestyle.

One major difference from the Atkins plan is that on The Hamptons Diet, not all carbs are created equal, and not all carbs are evil. Pescatore believes that eating whole grains and other complex carbohydrates is essential to good health. In addition, the diet places a huge emphasis on consuming the right kind of fats. Where many “low-carb” dieters claim to lose weight by gorging themselves on steak, sausage, and bacon, Pescatore urges the opposite. He wants everyone to make sure their fats are the highest quality possible. He even goes as far as to reject extra-virgin olive oil in favor of Australian macadamia nut oil, which has an even higher concentration of monounsaturated fats than olive oil. He bases the reliance on monounsaturated fats on the already well-known traditional Mediterranean diet.
