Fit For Life Diet
The “Fit For Life” Diet has been around since the 1980s. A diet that promotes steady weight loss through a strict food combining approach, it was authored by Marilyn and Harvey Diamond. Harvey Diamond (who is no longer married to Marilyn) has recently updated the diet in a new book, Fit for Life: Not Fat for Life. His food combining approach suggests that certain foods are more difficult to digest when combined. For example, the diet says that if you want to lose weight, you should never eat proteins and starches at the same time. Goodbye, meat and potatoes!
The diet itself is based on very simple, strict rules. Dieters are advised to consume nothing but fruit and fruit juices each day until noon. The next meals should be either “live” foods such as raw vegetables or “dead” foods, such as meats and starches. However, meats and starches can’t be combined or apparently disastrous gastric consequences will result…packing on the pounds and inches. In addition, people on the Fit For Life Diet are advised not to drink any liquids with meals, as this may interfere with the digestive process.
