Formerly known as WeightLoss4Idiots, the plan is unusual in that it gives each person who visits the site a personal 11-day plan based on their food preferences and an approach called “calorie rotation.” In response to the phenomenon of low-fat and low-carbohydrate diets, the website’s anonymous creator insists that neither diet works over the long term because the body “gets used to” the food you eat (there is no proof given for this, and the diet’s creator is never revealed).

The “Idiot-Proof” approach changes up your meals so that, in theory, your body does not know what to expect for eleven days. This way, you can “confuse” your metabolism into burning more calories than you might normally, and you can lose weight more quickly. Dieters are not required to do anything other than follow the meal plan given for eleven days. No counting calories.

After paying your $27 fee, you get to see a list of 45 different food choices. These range from items like cottage cheese to green beans to chicken. You select 30 or so you can live with, and like magic, the online Diet Generator spits out a completely unique 11-day plan, just for you! There is no portion control required, just a list of foods to be eaten at each meal. Sometimes it will just be one item. (“Lunch: chicken breast. Grilled or broiled. May add barbecue sauce.”) There are almost no starch-containing foods on the eleven-day menu, which leads one to believe this is a modified low-carb or glycemic index weight loss program.
