Chocolate Diet
The Chocolate Diet is based on the recent findings that chocolate may be more beneficial to one’s health than originally thought. In this weight loss program, chocolate is used as a vitamin replacement. Studies have shown that chocolate contains some antioxidant properties and may assist in lowering blood pressure and/or preventing clogging of the arteries. According to this diet, the chocolate is paired with a reduced calorie regimen and exercise, and is supposed to increase metabolism, therefore burning fat and producing weight loss. There is no evidence to suggest that chocolate has been proven to raise metabolism or helps people to lose weight.
The Chocolate Diet relies on a high consumption of liquids, and most variations include a focus on chocolate shakes- usually coming in powder form to be mixed with water or milk. These shakes are to be used as snacks, and meals are based on low calorie, healthy alternatives. In addition, this program relies on providing diet pills designed exclusively for this plan; some of which actually contain chocolate. The diet pills are described as providing vitamin supplementation.
