Cabbage Soup Diet
The Cabbage Soup Diet has been revamped over the years. It no longer consists of simply eating only cabbage soup all day. It is now similar to the Seven Day Diet, but you can eat unlimited cabbage soup at any point in the day. No bread, alcohol, or carbonated beverages are allowed on this plan, not even diet soda. This diet promises weight loss of up to 10 pounds in one week.
Day one of this weight loss program is all of the fruit you can eat, except bananas. On day two, you can eat all of the vegetables you want. Dinner is a baked potato with butter. Day three is a combination of days one and two, except the potato. Up to six bananas and all of the skim milk you want make up the fourth day. The fifth day contains 10-20 oz. of beef, a can of tomatoes, either diced or whole, and 6-8 glasses of water. Day six consists of all of the beef and vegetables you chose to eat. The last day is brown rice, unsweetened fruit juice, and vegetables.
On each day you can eat as much cabbage soup as you want at any time you chose. There are several cabbage soup recipes, but all are on the same lines. The most popular one is as follows:
6 lg. green onions
2 green peppers
1 or 2 cans of tomatoes (diced or whole)
3 carrots
1 10 oz. container mushrooms
1 bunch celery
½ head cabbage
1 pkg. Lipton soup mix
1 or 2 cubes bouillon (optional)
While it is likely that you will lose weight on this diet because it is low in fat and high in fiber, it is unrealistic as a long term weight loss program. Designed for quick weight loss, it is likely to gain back the weight lost after returning to normal eating habits.
