Blood Type Diet

The blood type diet provides meal plans to help you lose weight based on your blood type. It stems from the theory that people’s blood types determine the best types of food to eat (and avoid) for optimal weight loss.

People with type A blood are to have a diet high in complex carbohydrates and low in fat. Their diet consists of mainly fruits and vegetables. Dairy, animal fats, and meats should be avoided. It is believed that A types have thicker blood and weaker immune systems and are more prone to cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. The scientists that developed this diet feel that following it will help to prevent these diseases.

Those with blood type B have the easiest plan to follow. A balanced diet should be followed with the exception of chicken. B’s have the least risk for disease according to this theory.

Blood type AB’s should follow a mostly vegetarian diet. Very rarely should dairy, fish, or meat be eaten, and again, no chicken.

Type O’s should have a diet high in protein, eating mostly red meat. Grains, dairy, and most nuts should be eaten very sparingly. People with type O have thinner blood and are at a higher risk for hypothyroidism. This blood type also comes along with high stomach acid levels.

The blood type diet not only gives a regimented menu to help lose weight, but also may help prevent against diseases, improving a person’s overall health. This diet is not however on a time table. The point is to follow it forever to achieve weight loss and overall maximum health.
